Top 10 Movies (I would always watch)

Tonight was the Oscars.  While I rarely catch the movies from the nominees, here are the movies that I thoroughly enjoyed.

There are certain movies that I seem to watch when I’m doing house chores around the house.

As mentioned in my previous post ( here ) since then I have listened to music.  However on my lazy days vegging out in front of the tube, there are certain movies that I would watch repeatedly.

So here goes, my top 10 (+2) Movies:  - I added 2 more....

* This of course is not in any order *

Dance Til Dawn

Dance ‘Til Dawn (1998)

Okay, this was pretty much an all star cast.  Most of the actors in this movie are recognizable except for Brian Bloom (who plays Kevin McCrae).

Casual Sex

Casual Sex (1988)

I don’t know why I like this movie so much...

Troop-Beverly-Hills

Troop Beverly Hills (1989)

My very first Beverly Hills housewife awakening with all its silliness.

5a15b3c4a7f1c2a82dd3c8bd8193527e

Clueless (1995)

There were so many catchphrases from this movie.

“Dee, I’m Audi”, “It’s da bomb!”, “nice stems”, “I totally paused”, “classic!”, “you gave him a toothache”

house-party

House Party (1990)

I’ve always wished that all house parties I’ve attended was this hoppin’!

And yes, I do know how to do the Kid n Play with the tap foot and all....

amelie_01

Amelie (2001)

I love this movie!  It was so refreshing, the story and the scenery... After watching this, I’ve become an Audrey Tatou fan.

467468_DV_L_F

The Princess Diaries (2001)

I liked this one and the sequel.  Who doesn’t love Julie Andrews anyway?

220px-Couples_retreat

Couples Retreat (2009)

Okay, this movie has gotten a lot of bad reviews.... it’s not the greatest Vince Vaughn movie and really, I would have preferred if they omitted the guitar hero scene but regardless, I thought it was a good movie nonetheless.

italian_job_ver4

The Italian Job (2003)

NeverEndingStory-DVD

The NeverEnding Story (1984)

I would watch this movie religiously!  I know all the lines from it... ask me the name of each character and I could tell you who they are.

Spring is almost here....

Weather is in the 40s today and thru the upcoming days.  Spring is peaking out and just to show that she is coming, we are greeted with a little bit of sunshine on the drive home from work.

While I love my cold weather... I enjoy getting a glimpse of the changes of seasons.

In lieu of the upcoming Springtime... I’ve decided to wear a colorful tunic from Mossimo with a black pencil skirt and my Mossimo boyfriend blazer.

I love the cold weather since I could don my black tights all season long!  I’ve decided to wear my  tan peep-toe BCBG Winston booties.

They are perfect for the in-between change of season.  I rarely wear jewelry at work, only my wedding rings and scapular.  The gold touch of studs in these shoes are enough bling for me for work wear.

Currently: watching Modern Family.  I loooove this show-It’s f-ing hilarious!  While Gloria’s rendition of “Just Call Me Angel” singing karaoke was unbearable, I found that Jay’s wasn’t that bad.  And how funny was it that Claire was making sex noises while getting a massage.  This part was sort of reminiscent of the Friends episode when Phoebe was giving Monica a massage.  Oooh, and you can’t forget about Phil getting a haircut from Gloria!  There were so many things that I’m not going to mention on this episode that made me chuckle.

Shakin’ my tailfeather at Rat’s

So last Saturday night, me and Hubs were fortunate enough to get a sitter to attend his cousin spinning at Rat’s in Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton.

I wore my Charles Albert short slouchy cowboy boots ( seen here ).  Okay this wasn’t really my first choice of shoes, I was going to wear my Betseyville Orkney boots ( seen here ).  But since I couldn’t find it-I think my may have left them at work since.  Yes, I leave shoes at work just in case I may need to switch my shoes during the day.

I was actually glad that I wore these shoes instead since I was able to move so much more and danced my ass off!  Just give me a great cocktail (preferably a Grey Goose orange cosmo) and I will dance the night away.  I remember back in the day, me and my girls would venture to clubs every weekend and just dance.  Of course, back in those days, I will drop down and get my eagle on, but times have changed...

Outfit was casual:  jeans and off the shoulder black tee.

02-19-2011

Since I was keeping my outfit simple, I had to accessorize properly.  I love wearing gold jewelry.  Here are my gold hoops and black flower necklace.

I love these Guess gold hoops... it’s not a perfect circle and the chain links just add a nice touch.  These are my go-to hoops.  It’s just perfect for casual wear.

Any of course, my black flower necklace.

Just look at the details....

A birthday party and christening Sunday

My sister’s bday just passed last Friday.  The fam and I decided to meet for an early lunch at Penang restaurant in Edison.

Me, hubs and baby boy had to attend a friend’s son’s christening following the lunch celebration.

This Sunday, I wore my Jessica Simpson ‘Henri’ black pumps.

Picture 017

Picture 022

I love that these pumps are round toe.  These make such a difference since the front area is wide enough that my toes are not so constricted.

I decided to wear a pair of denim pants-cuffed with a plain v-neck white tee and my grey Cynthia Rowley cardigan (seen here).  I like cuffing my jeans when I want to display my shoes.  It shows a bit of skin without exposing other areas....

Currently: listening to Pandora Super Cat radio station.

Pandora Radio

I used to watch movies and tv shows when I’m working in the kitchen. - more on that at a later blog - Since I would become distracted by trying to watch the show, it would take me longer to finish and get stuff done.

My sister gave me an iHome as a birthday present.  Since it was small and portable, I decided to put it in the kitchen so I could listen to some tunes.

Favorite Pandora radio stations (not in any order):

Warning:  tidbits will go down memory lane again.

dd45c060ada04a3d8a7e8110.L

Seduction Radio - in the kitchen washing dishes or cooking.

Tidbit: this album was the first R&B cassette tape that I’ve ever gotten.  Favorite song in this album: “Could This Be Love”

51fKMhetpIL._SS500_

Hall and Oates Radio  - blogging at the end of the day, almost about to be ready for bed.

Tidbit: this album was in my Dad’s collection.  Incidentally, I’ve used “Private Eyes” as a song for my workout project back in grade school.  As per my mom’s advise to use the music breaks to guide me when going to the next routine.  Great idea but while I was using that as a guideline, I forgot to keep count.

f8a8828fd7a02d1b0b171110.L

Christopher Cross Radio - yes, I’m feeling adult contemporary.

Tidbit: “Relax to the mellow sounds of The Rain on KPPX”. (leave comments if you know where this quote is from)

41RMUffHOjL._SS400_

Amy Winehouse Radio - kitchen and at work.  This, by the way, is my version of angry girl music... don’t ask me why but the songs on this station makes me feel liberated!

Tidbit: When my friend gave me this album, I listened to it day in and day out for weeks!  “Rehab”, “You Know I’m No Good”, and “Tears Dry on Their Own” are my faves.

5926e03ae7a08fec99633210.L

Debbie Gibson Radio - housework and work-work.  Yes, I’m a teeny bopper by heart.

Tidbit: This album was my first cassette tape once we got to the States.  I think my parents got it at a garage sale in Staten Island along with a mini boombox.

51AEnoazieL._SS500_

Shabba Ranks Radio - I used to listen to this station religiously since it played the dancehall reggae of the 90s.

Tidbit: This album was my first reggae cassette tape.  I used to listen (and record) the reggae segments in 98.7 KissFM.  “Trailor Load A Girls” is my fave.

51GM8CI0KvL._SS500_

Super Cat Radio - another reggae station.

Tidbit: “Dolly My Baby” song included Biggie Smalls and Mary J. Blige was my first introduction to this album.  However, once I got it, I thoroughly enjoyed all of them-that’s how good [I think] this album is.  Me and my friends would venture out at clubs (more stories on that some other time) and saw Super Cat live in Hunka Bunka!

There are a few more that I could put on this list but for now, these stations are on my heavy rotation.

Good night - good morning for now.

XOXO

** Updated - 12 March 2011**

While I do enjoy my reggae (dancehall preferred),  high school days (and nights) are spent listening to hip hop’s lyricists.  So it’s no big surprise that these stations have become my frequent stations as of late.

ready_to_die

Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious BIG!!!

Considering that some tunes played at this station has some expletive words, this should only be enjoyed with a pair of headphones.... (more on that on another blog)

Tidbit: “Juicy” was the first song (from the Ready to Die album) that I have heard.  When I tried looking for the cassette single, Biggie Smalls was this country singer.  Then found out later that it was filed under The Notorious BIG.

Added:  I could recite (at least most of) “Juicy”.

coverghb

Eric B. & Rakim

What On Your Mind” is my fave (from the Don't Sweat The Technique album) but “Lyrics of Fury" (from the Follow The Leader album) comes pretty close.

Tidbit: “Know The Ledge” was my first intro to Eric B. & Rakim in my junior year of high school.

My favorite cartoon of ALL TIME

Before MTV’s “The Hills” or 90210, there was a cartoon that sadly only lasted for 1 season called Beverly Hills Teens.  This by far was my favorite cartoon of all time!  I think it came on either before or after Jem as part of the Saturday morning cartoons in the 80s.

The premise of the show is a bunch of teens from Beverly Hills living luxuriously with their transportation and houses.  Each one of them had a different accent to distinguish them from one another.  Of course there are always a couple that is the center of it all (Lark and Troy) and of course a villain (Bianca) that thinks that she is better than everyone.  This is the recipe for a great teeny bopper movies (i.e., High School Musical).

Beverly Hills Teens intro

Sadly there are only a few people that can actually remember this show.  Luckily, they are showing all the episodes in its entirety here.

Enjoy!  Hope you guys like it as much as I did growing up.

XOXO

Target’s jewelry line

Last weekend, me and my sister embarked on a trip to Target.  I swear, I could spend hours in that store without any plan on buying anything once I entered and when I leave, I am left with a bill that’s over $100.  One item I’ve purchased (besides groceries and clothes) was this owl ring!  [Sorry, I tried looking online and they don’t have this one available]

DSCN0291

Target has a great selection of clothes and shoes but their jewelry section should not be overlooked.  Another great jewelry purchase I got from them a while back was this ring.

DSCN0308

I’ve gotten tons of compliments on this ring when I wore it.  [Sorry, don’t mind the face, we were starving and was getting impatient when waiting for our food.

Gung Hay Fat Choy

Gung Hay Fat Choy means "Best wishes and Congratulations. Have a prosperous and good year."

I’m Filipino and we do not celebrate Chinese New Year.  However since I realized that I never had an entry of our New Year’s Eve celebration, I thought it would be nice to coincide this with the Chinese New Year.

Me and Hubs headed up to Red Hook Brooklyn for a private, invite-only New Year’s Eve party at Brooklyn Motor Works sponsored by AYAK (As You Already Know) Magazine.

clip_image001

Since we just got hit with a really bad snow storm the day after Christmas, I did not feel like wearing heels.

I used to rock Timbs in my senior year of high school (thinkin’ I was all thug - yeah, keep thinking that poser!)

So needless to say, high school has come and gone and I’ve never rocked them again.  Until now...

Instead, I opted for my Timberland ‘Reykir Ghillie’ Boots.  Can be purchased here.  These shoes were paired with skinny jeans, a silver striped top and my Ben Sherman Bomber with faux fur-lined hoodie.

clip_image003

DSCN0299 clip_image007

I was so glad I’ve worn these!  I was dreading having to walk over the snow covered sidewalks and curbs of Brooklyn.  The inside was lined with fleece which kept my feet war.  And, I was able to shake my tailfeather without having my feet hurt by the end of the night!

These Timbs were one of my purchases from 2 years back that I’ve never worn.  It was hidden on the top shelf of our coat closet.

Cue coat closet again:

Me and Hubs at New Years Eve - I think this was taken after the ball dropped for 2011!  (don’t mind the blurry image, we were standing in front of a fire pit)

Currently: listening to Debbie Gibson station at Pandora radio-they are playing The Jets “You Got It All”.
