Polka Dot Tuesday

Yesterday, I wore my multicolor polka dot cami with blazer and jeans.  I love pairing blazers with jeans.  It takes me back to my high school days when this was my staple uniform.

The shoes I wore is so old, I don’t even remember when I got it.  I think maybe around the 90s when square toe was in style.  While I do not see much square toe shoes, I can’t seem to part with these shoes.  These are no way pricey shoes-just look at the pleather material that is starting to peel off at the top (every time I put these on, pieces of the shoes would fall on the floor).  However, these shoes do hold a special place in my heart.

Currently:  watching my recorded episode of How I Met Your Mother: False Positive.  Makes me wonder how big Barney’s bonus was if he was writing the check with 4 0s plus the Barney’s Favorite Things the night before.

Business attire Monday

Some say that only 20% of the clothes in your closet gets worn in everyday life but I beg to differ.  I vowed to incorporate outfits that will include the 80% that are seldom worn.
The reason: it’s either this or empty my closet and I’m left with only 20% of my clothes!(hang on a moment while I get a paper bag to breathe in)
Wish me luck :)

Today I wore my teal sweater tank with a white button down and stripped brown pants.  Shoes were a repeat, my Nicole “Stinson” boots seen here.
I’ve had this sweater tank for-like-ever and could never figured out how to wear it since the cut is so low that I felt that I am flashing people!  So today, I’ve decided to wear it as a vest.  I kinda like it.  Not only does it add some color to a plain white button down but it also brings the feel of summer during a cold winter day.
Mission accomplished!

A big shout-out to my sister tonight.  She will be strutting her stuff for the Bloggers Soiree in NY.  Love ya sis!
Currently:  Watching Baby Boy play Wii Sports Resort before bed so I could watch “How I Met Your Mother”.

Rainy Sunday

The rain last night lasted till the morning.  Of course I wore my galoshes!  Paired with jeans and a wool blazer for church.
Okay, so I didn’t get to post my rain boots during my PeeWee Herman rant so upon further adieu… here are my Sperry Rain Boots along with Hubs’ Timbs and Baby Boy’s Snow Boots.

Rainy Saturday night

Hub’s Best Man at our wedding invited us to a house get-together.  We were fortunate enough to get a sitter that night.  Unfortunately, The Weather Channel had predicted rain in the forecast starting at midnight.  I wore my ‘97 Nike Air Max paired with bootcut jeans and a grey boyfriend cardigan.

I got these kicks at the Nike Factory Store in Jackson Outlets.

Currently: watching Dumb And Dumber in tbsHD.  Brings back memories (circa 1996) when one of our friends got Cable and we would watch it constantly.

Coach has never felt so good

Christmas is the time for giving but (and I know I’m going to sound selfish after the statement I am about to say) the sales they are having at stores are ridiculous!

Okay, so this is not really a shoe entry but you can’t leave some handbags that needs to take notice….

I stopped at the Coach Factory Outlet by Six Flags and let me tell you, the line was insane!  I’m not even going to tell you how cold it is outside.  Luckily, I decided that Coach will be the last stop.  So once I got to the door, no lines!  Yeah pretty lucky or was it just my ploy to get something for myself as a reward?  And what a sweet reward I’ve acquired!

I love this bag!  I’m in love with crossbody bags and this one totally fit the bill.  It’s simple that it’s a classic!  Sadly since this was an outlet store purchase, the bags do not come with their garment bags.  Oh well, I’ll just have to stash this away with my other handbags’ bags.

Currently:  Watching Modern Family – next time I drink chocolate milk, I might add a little bit of salt….

It’s brick out!

Windy and cold was today’s forecast.

Today, I’ve donned my black Betseyville Orkney Boots with a long tan cardigan and leggings.  Since it was going to be cold, I’ve double layered the leggings with tights underneath.

While these are not as comfortable as my Nicole Stinson boots, it’s still fairly easy to walk on.

Since my shoe collection has grown, I’m in search for a great shoe rack.  One that can hold about 50 pairs of shoes.  Unfortunately, most shoe racks I’ve looked at doesn’t accommodate boots!  If you guys have any ideas, let me know.

Currently:  watching How I Met Your Mother.

Christian Louboutin for Barbie

Christian Louboutin has created a collection for Barbie.
“This suite of striking Barbie® shoes is designed by the wizard of fabulous footwear, Christian Louboutin especially for Barbie® doll! Collection includes nine pairs of shoes featuring Louboutin’s signature red soles and each pair comes with a matching miniature shoe bag and box.“

Just look at the collection, it’s fantaboulous!

Barbie has always been one of my fashion icons growing up.  She has surpassed all the dolls by reinventing her style and it’s no surprise that designers has followed suit.  How I would kill to have her wardrobe!

Another rainy (but somewhat warm) day

Happy December!  First day of December and we are treated to about 1-2 inches of rain all day.  What a great way to start the Christmas season.
Since it will be raining all day, I’ve decided to wear my galoshes-which some of my friends would refer to as my Peewee Herman shoes.

So while googling the Peewee Herman shoes, it displayed some images of the Nike Dunk Peewee Herman.

Not bad, love the light gray color!

End of November…. Beginning of December!

Baby boy kept saying that tomorrow will be Christmas already!

I feel like time flew this year.  I could still remember spending New Year’s Eve at the same place we’ve been for the past 3 years feeling nice and getting a fever the next day from lack of sleep and standing in the rain the night before.  Thinking back, it was “a small price to pay for the party gods” (quoting Travis from Clueless).

Anyway… here is my shoe of the day:

I paired the Nicole “Stinson” boots with my faded straight leg jeans and a red H&M sweater.

These boots were made for walking.. okay so I’m exaggerating a wee bit but all I could say is that 75% of my 8 hour workday on my foot and my feet did not hurt at all.  I have to take them to get them restored since the points on the front are scratched up.

Currently:  watching Notorious and feel like listening to Ready To Die album.

DSW-ing for Lunch

So instead of having a bagged lunch, me and my coworker ventured to DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) at Mercer Mall.  And looky what I got….

Love, love, love these boots!  Just look at the buckle detail.  The shaft is big enough that I could fit my jeans in them!  It’s very rare that I find boots that I’m able to tuck in.  The problem that I have is that my calves do not fit the average high boots let alone trying to fit jeans and/or even leggings-eeek! inside.  While I am on a large size and petite (I’m 4’11”), it’s a task finding boots that has a correct fit.  Sadly, all the boots that I have, excluding this were only worn under jeans.

Ikea trippin’

This Saturday, the fam and I ventured on a 45-minute drive to Ikea.

While I rarely go to Ikea, I find it such a treat taking a trip to this wonderland of a place.

Of course, you cannot leave Ikea without getting the Swedish Meatballs (which are fabulous!)  The gravy and cranberry jelly just balances out the sweetness and saltiness in your palate that you cannot help but continuously consume it in large quantities.  Here it is in all its goodness:

There was a purpose of going to Ikea and that was to buy some bookshelves and organizing storage to decrease the clutter that have accumulated in our tiny abode.  I’m a terrible packrat!  Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to acquire such items because Hubs didn’t want to carry it!  Nevertheless, I have enjoyed browsing and perusing through the countless showrooms they have displayed which gave me some great ideas for decorating.

Currently:  watching Iron Chef (original).  The challenge is yogurt-quite strange but Iron Chef Chen Kenichi was victorious!  I wished it was a battle with Iron Chef  Hiroyuki Sakai.  He is my fave!

All Saints Day

Growing up in the Philippines, I have never had the opportunity (as a kid) to get dressed up and go door to door trick or treatin’.

But we did celebrate November 1st, or All Saints Day (otherwise known as the Day of the Dead).  On this day, my family and I would bring flowers, candles and food to the cemetery where other people would gather at the grave site of their loved ones.  This day was a celebration of paying respects and remembrance of the dearly departed.   This holiday was an important religious day for us.  We would stay at the cemetery all day - it somewhat resembles tail gate parties.

I remember my grandfather’s grave –white marble laying flat on the ground.

I still remember playing with the melted wax and making wax balls with it.
I remember the smell of wax in my hand.
I remember walking around the cemetery and visiting all the grave sites and mausoleums.
I remember the lake next to my grandfather’s grave.  One time, all the cousins gathered around back facing the lake (height and age order) to take a picture.

While I have adapted to the Western traditions, I feel that sometimes there are things that I miss about the Philippines.  This is one of them.

What a strike!

All week we had great temperatures in the 70s.  Today was the first day of the beginning of the Halloween weekend.  I’m not a big fan of Halloween, I very seldom wear any costumes to celebrate such holiday.

We spent the night bowling.  Good thing I wore socks tonight since we were renting bowling shoes.  I remember when bowling shoes were something I would wear in public besides the bowling alley – that must have been circa 2008…

Currently: listening to 2original (Mixed by DJ Neil Armstrong).  It’s been a minute since the last time I listened to this album, and I’m still feeling it!  Love that he mixes hip hop with the classics.

Sunny day and Mondays

Another start of the work week… Every morning I tune into the weather channel to determine what outfit I should wear that day.  Today was a clear sunny day in the 70s!  Can you believe it?

I wore my Marc Fisher Vica in black patent leather.  I love, love, love these shoes!  I feel so sexy every time I wear them.  Since I wanted the focus of my outfit to be the shoes, I donned a plain white tee and jeans today.

Currently: watching The Breakfast Club.  It’s weird how pot has been in so many 80s movies and I just noticed this recently….  Going to high school, I don’t remember lockers and wall hallway colors being so bright.  My locker was either grey or tan and the walls were beige… maybe this only applies to Shermer High School in Shermer, Illinois.

Lazy Saturdays

Weekends are usually the days where I would run errands and do housework around the house.  Not today.  Today, I stayed in my pjs and slippers and did nothing.  Quite unusual but I had a great time not doing anything.  Yes, tomorrow (or today) I will have to make sure that all the laundry is done and errands taken care of before the day is over.

Currently: watching Sex and The City 2.  My input, 2nd time around was a lot better than the first.

Casual Fridays

I’m always hesitant dressing casual on Fridays for work.  While there are no such dress codes that are followed, I tend to wear business casual outfits in fear that my idea of “casual” doesn’t correspond as proper office attire.  The office was pretty empty today and I decided that during lunchtime, I will pull a switch-a-roo and change into my comfy casual wear.

While I did not wear my sweats - I save those for Mondays :)  I did rock my Saucony Jazz.  These kicks are my go-to when I don’t feel like getting dressed with a pair of jeans and a white shirt.

Currently:  watching Empire Records on Fuse HD.  Everytime this movie comes on, I feel compelled to watch it.  Totally brings back a memory of the first time I stayed over my cousin’s house in Union-we didn’t have anything to do so we ended up watching this movie and fell in love with it.

Nice day Wednesday

Today (Wednesday) turned out to be a nice day.  Luckily I wore my black suede espadrilles.

Fall is already here.  Walking to my car I feel the cold breeze and melted frost coats my car.

I’ve been searching a lot of places online for some oxfords and I’m continously searching….

Currently:  watching (500) Days of Summer.  I “heart” Joseph Gordon Levitt.  While, he was mostly known from 3rd Rock From The Sun and 10 Things I Hate About You, I started noticing him (more attractive) in The Lookout.

You must have the Mondays….

I never understood what that saying really means.  All I know is that I’ve been using this phrase ever since I heard it in Office Space.

Back at my previous job, I was notorious for rockin’ sweatpants on Mondays.  Little did I know that my former coworkers were actually keeping tabs on my outfits.

I donned my Michael Kors black patent leather sneakers with my tweed blazer and jeans.

Yes, time does change… but I always manage to stay a little bit casual on Mondays.  I guess maybe because, the weekend is over and I don’t want to put too much effort in figuring out what to wear since the beginning of the work week is here.

Currently:  watching the first season of Sex and The City.

Style Pile

Last week, I gladly participated on the Style Pile project for iVillage Beauty and Style column.

It is basically an image of items that define your style.  This was so much fun to do.  Each item on this pile was carefully selected to show my aesthetic.

Currently: feeding a hungry 5 year old toast with butter since he didn’t eat much dinner.

Mommy, I wanna do that too!

With all the picture taking I’ve been doing lately, my Baby Boy has decided to join in on the fun….

Image was taken by himself.

Sunday shoes

Sunday is church day.  While some people seem to wear their “Sunday Best”, I’m wearing my sweats and sneakers.

This afternoon, we will be running errands and getting some furniture and it is never cute (although, I’m sure quite entertaining) to lug around boxes over 3 flights of stairs in heels.

Currently: watching “The Challenge: Cutthroat” and crushing on Abram.  I love a man that takes charge!

Welcome Fall! (with a hint of Summer)

Ah! Fall is here! My favorite season of all... the beginning of all the holiday festivities to come.

And to welcome this blog and my shoes (I would wear) each day.

It's been 3 years at Christmas time that I got my first Ugg boots. They were given to me by my husband-the Chocolate suede sheepskin Ugg Classic Short. To this day, now that I've acquired quite a collection, these were still my favorite of all, and the first shoes I start the season of fall with.

Since I was anticipating the cool breeze, I donned my sweaterdress, black tights and my Chocolate Ugg Classic Short.  Little did I know that today will be a warmer than usual weather-think sunny Spring weather with a temperature of 73 degrees.  Luckily, I (always) have a pair of flip flops in my car that I changed into.  Sadly, I still had to keep the sweaterdress on.
